My son (10) and I have decieded to give this a try. He loves running and riding, so we thought this would be a good family project.
Has anyone else raced with a young(10ish) child? is there is problems he might have with the challeges? I am not worried about the biking, running or river, just the special challeges.
Any suggestion are appreciated |

There have been others in the past that have raced with youn'uns around that age and I've not heard of any major issues based on their age.
I've done all but one of the CRC's and have been trying to get my 10 year old to do it with me this year without success. But as to your question, I can't think of any previous challenge that has been included that would be a problem for a 10 yr old. There are a few that if he were doing it solo might be an issue (I.e. lifting a bike over an obstacle or changing a bike tube, etc.) But as a team no obstacle should pose any insurmountable issue. Granted, the challenges do change each year and some may cause you to exert more effort than you might if you had an adult partner (such as last years portage of your two man boat for 100 yds) but nothing that can't be overcome.
The CRC has been notorious for making sure it is a family friendly, novice friendly race (debatable by some since we do include some of the more difficult portions of the MTB trail, but hey... its an adventure race and most wouldn't want it any other way) but nothing that a little patience or walking can't overcome.
Hopefully I'll be successful in getting my son to want to give it a try and we'll be going head-to-head but barring that I'll be there as a solo racer again.
Look forward to seeing you there.

| Your 10 year old will not have any problem. This year will be my 4th straight with my now 13 year old daughter. It's a great annual father-daughter event for us. |
