2010 Race Format

USA Cycling-MTB-sanctioned race(permit #2010-1504).

Map shown will be the 2010 course. It is similiar to previous years but mofified (color changes are only for clarity 1st half red, second have purple) . Laps will be about 8.8 miles of rolling single track through dense forest with a fair amount of roots and rocks. Plan is to mark mark course on 14 May with signs and make final marking (race tape) a day or two before race.

Classes will be divided into the following age groups. (subject to change)

Basic categories and start order:

8:30 start

Kids
9-11 (2 laps on 1 mile loop)
5-8 ( 1 lap on 1 mile loop)

9:30 start

XC3 - Beginner (1lap - 8.8 miles)
Men 16-29
Men 30-39
Men 40-49
Men 50+
Juniors 11-15
Women (all beginners)

10:30 am start

XC1 - Expert (3 laps - 26.4 miles)
19-29
30-39
40+
Women (all experts)

XC2 - Sport (2 laps - 17.6 miles)
16-29
30-39
40-49
50+
Women (all Sport)

Notes:
1. We do not plan to have a single speed or Clydesdale division.

2. Historically we've not had many women (9 total all groups in 2009), so they will be one group per category. If numbers dictate otherwise, we'll split to more groupings.

3. Expert payout plan: 1st $70, 2nd $50, 3rd $30 in each category. If less than 3 per category; 1st $50, 2nd $30.

4. Prizes and medals for other categories.

Location

The race will be held at the Swayback Bridge Trail just north of Wetumpka, Alabama. From Wetumpka, take US 231 north to Wallsboro. Turn left on Old Hwy. 231. There will a brown sign there that directs you to the Swayback Bridge Trail. Travel approximately 2.5 miles and then turn left towards Jordan Dam. Parking will be along the side of the road.
